Airbrush Effect Hibiscus

Airbrush Effect Hibiscus

Brighter and darker shades of pink play in a really unusual way across these large 8–8½" flowers. They create a look just as the name suggests—an airbrush effect, no photoshop required. You will have plenty of time to enjoy their beauty, too, the bloom season lasts from midsummer all the way into fall. They'll also catch the attention of beneficial pollinators. This is a Hibiscus moscheutos, also called Rose Mallow. The species is native, growing naturally in US swamplands, and will survive further north than the more delicate tropical species. While it grows well in wet soil, it adapts to well–drained garden soil nicely, too. It dies back each winter and may get a slow start to the growing season, but once it starts up again, it grows very fast. The cultivar is an introduction by breeder Hans Hansen.
